Purpose of Role:

The Senior Product Controller is responsible for supporting the US Capital Markets businesses of Marex. This position is responsible for managing the production of P&L reporting and analysis, monthly balance sheet substantiation, reporting and analysis. The senior Product Controller will provide effective oversight of revenues, including trading, commission income, costs including costs of trading (CoT) and bonus calculations. Acting as a trusted business partner, this role will involve collaborating closely with various business units to ensure accurate financial control and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the product control team for Capital Markets products, including equity swaps, repos, stock loans, corporate bonds, equities, and options.
  • Ensure data integrity in the sub-ledger system reconciliation process.
  • Manage static data for multiple system interfaces, ensuring accuracy across all platforms.
  • Develop and maintain an automated process for accounting accruals, estimating direct expenses, and allocating costs to trading desks.
  • Prepare month-end accruals related to broker-dealer activities.
  • Monitor daily expense accruals based on various cost drivers and financial products.
  • Identify trade breaks and prepare journal entries to accurately adjust any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile the General Ledger to sub-ledgers, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Automate and maintain daily financial reporting on regulatory capital and working capital usage.
  • Identify and address data quality issues, including position breaks and pricing discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly payout calculation process for the broker-dealer desk.
  • Calculate trader/desk performance compensation estimates for specific broker-dealer business units.
  • Oversee reporting on funding and liquidity management, working capital, and other financial impacts for the broker-dealer business units.
  • Adapt quickly to ensure accurate daily reporting to senior management.
  • Manage ad-hoc reporting and performance analysis for broker-dealer business units.
  • Provide support and perform research to address inquiries regarding desk performance.
  • Approve broker-dealer balance sheet reconciliations between source systems, third-party data, and the general ledger.
  • Support interactions with front-office personnel and desk managers to ensure smooth operations and accurate financial reporting. Work closely with Operations, Out-sourced back-office Operations, and Treasury Operation to facilitate financial reporting and controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

Experience:

  • At least seven (7)years of accounting experience at a reputable FINRA broker-dealer or bank trading operation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Programming is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Microsoft Access, SQL Python, and related database skills is a plus).
  • Experience interacting with trading desks and working with Broadridge and Pershing application
  • General knowledge of financial products i.e. fixed income (ABS/MBS, Corporate Bonds, TBA’s, repo), Equity, Equity Options, Securities Lending, and Derivatives.
  • Organized, process oriented, and capable of defining and documenting process and procedure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.

Salary Range: $200,000 to $225,000 per year plus discretionary bonus
