Marex Finance Graduate Stream
As a Finance Graduate, you will be working within Group Finance and will have the opportunity to rotate through three departments over the course of three years ; gaining valuable experience of the different functions and developing key skills for a future career within Finance. Subject to performance and personal preference and circumstances, international rotation opportunities may be explored.
Over the course of the three-year Finance programme you will be supported to become qualified Chartered Accountant through the ICAEW – a gold standard professional Finance Qualification that is globally recognised and funded by Marex.
You will be part of the broader Marex Graduate Programme where you will have the opportunity to expand your business knowledge, network and connect with other Graduates from across the Marex business.

Overall Responsibilities
As a Graduate, you will start by learning the fundamentals on the job and build your experience over time so that can take on the following responsibilities:
Product Control
Product Control is a global team within the Finance department and is responsible for the production of the daily and monthly income statements, balance sheet substantiation and ad hoc financial analysis.
Due to the growth of the firm, system integration and process improvement is a regular part of the responsibilities.
- Assist in the production and analysis of regular management reporting to include:
- Daily revenue and profit summaries
- Month end revenue reporting and analysis
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with analysis required by trading staff and business management
- Building relationships with internal stakeholders both within Finance and other functions
- Assist in internal and external audit activities
- Contribute to ad hoc project work which will include acquisition integration, change programs and management analysis
Treasury
Assist in the production and analysis of regular MI including:
- Daily Liquidity Report (including Sources and Uses of liquidity, and stress testing MI) used to monitor entity level and Group liquidity
- Other regular liquidity MI, including FX exposures, summary of cash held across the Group’s various relationship banks, estimate of intraday IM/VM changes at Exchanges
- Monthly summary of Treasury department's performance against Risk Appetite metrics
- Assist the wider Treasury team to improve/automate treasury processes by analysing non/semi-automated processes and deliver improvements
- Assist with in the allocations process of transferring funding costs to business areas
- Assist the wider Treasury team in investment optimisation, managing the net interest margin on the firms Liquid Resources and firm funding sources
- Assist in production of liquidity Ml for both internal and external audiences.
- Assist in the development of new Ml as required by Treasurer/ CEO/ CFO
- Assist in internal and external audit activities
- Ad hoc project work
Legal Entity Control
The Legal Entity Control team work on a range of projects, regulatory and statutory reporting and control functions. The team is charged with ensuring the Group meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global and regulated Group to listed company standards.
The purpose of this role is to support the Legal Entity Control function and ensure the integrity of the Group’s financial reporting.
- Preparation of annual financial statements for all active entities audited through Deloitte London and under various accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP);
- Preparation of monthly analytical reviews of all legal entities focusing on income statement and balance sheet;
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts to external stakeholders (Primary Statements);
- Support the monthly close process, including elimination and consolidation process at a Group level;
- Documenting of processes and controls in LEC area of operation;
- Ensure controls and processes are properly documented and operating;
- Preparation of monthly transfer pricing calculations and subsequent reporting;
- Support the Balance Sheet Substantiation process and review and challenge balance sheet reconciliations;
- Support legal entity initiatives within the Group (including acquisitions) and involvement in projects impacting the legal entities;
- Preparation of monthly management reports, providing information to Treasury and FP&A in support of quarterly Board meetings;
- Work closely within the Finance Team: Product Control, FP&A, Regulatory, Tax, Strategy and Treasury as well as US and APAC regions;
- Involvement in developing, re-engineering and improving existing processes through exposure to key Group projects;
- Manage ad hoc inquiries from external auditors;
- Preparation of technical accounting papers for external auditors;
- Other ad hoc finance duties as required
Tax
- Assisting the Head of Tax Compliance, Reporting & Transformation, and the Corporate Tax Manager with the preparation of the global tax computations and returns for the group. This will include working closely with Marex Group Finance and our Big 4 global tax compliance provider.
- Assisting with the monthly/quarterly/year-end tax reporting process, including effective tax rate calculation, identification of material adjustments to profit, preparation of tax notes and disclosures within the statutory accounts and liaising with the Group’s auditors on tax related queries.
- Assisting the VAT Manager with the preparation of the UK and other global VAT and GST returns, including working closely with accounts payable and our Big 4 global tax compliance provider.
- Assisting the Head of Capital Markets Tax in responding to tax queries received from the global business including items of business change and expansion. To include liaising with external advisors as required.
- Tax technical research based on legislation, case law and HMRC manuals.
- Assist in the identification of opportunities to increase efficiency, including, but not limited to, the use of tax technology resources.
- Assisting in dealing with any HMRC enquiries or tax audits initiated by any other global tax authority.
